Data from January 11-12, 2016 Birds visited despite the cold because they wanted food. It was observed that they drank lots of water from the bird bath.
This is the data we collected this week. America Crows won the day!
Project Feeder Watch January 11,2016 This is the data I have been collecting since November 2015. We do not have data for November because the new neighbors upstairs were smoking outside and the birds flew away from the smoke. These neighbors also dropped their cigarette ash onto our patio. We think the birds returned because the neighbors went inside to smoke.
Data Collection for December 7 and 8
Lindo Lake Data
Data collection for the Week of December 14 and 15
On December 17, 2015,we went bird watching at Lindo Lake with my teacher, my family. We were joined by Ms. Cooley and her class. We also had a little Christmas party at the park during this time.
We saw a Red Tail Hawk in a tree and it was chasing other birds. We saw a big cat.
The geese at Lindo Lake honking at people.
The American White Pelican and sea bird friends. According to Cornell Lab of Ornithology this is a rare sighting to see at Lindo Lake.
Mallard ducks, Canadian Geese, and American Coots. Hiding in the distance is a Great Blue Heron.
We were chased by Canadian Geese. They were chasing us looking for food.
December 11,2015 I have new neighbors that moved in above me. They are loud and smoke a lot on their balcony. For two weeks I did not see any birds. I feared that these new neighbors had scared off the birds. Today, 16 Lesser Gold Finches, 17 House Finches and 17 House Sparrows. I have only seen 1 Black Phoebe. I think today the birds came to have fun and say, "hello." I think the birds have come back. I think they had left during those two weeks because it was cold.
Project Feeder Watch 2015-2016 During the winter bird watchers are invited to participate in Project Feeder Watch. Participants are invited to count birds that come to the feeders that are put out for them during the winter. Feeder Watchers count birds from November to April. Feeder Watchers watch the birds as much or as little over a two day period. Anyone who loves birds can participate in this project. It will be fun. Please come and join me this year. For further information check out this site here from Cornell University of Ornithology- Project Feeder Watch.
