San Diego Audubon Society is part of the National Audubon Society. The National Audubon Society was created in 1905 to stop people from killing birds for their feathers.

Go Pro Vide #7 and New Bird

This Go Pro Video #7. This day the same birds came to visit. Lesser Gold Finches, House Sparrow and House Finches visited. The House Finches broke the hook that connected the Hummingbird feeder. My Mom put it on the deck but no hummingbirds visited.

I read that it was common for House Finches and Purple Finches to drink out of the hummingbird feeders. I also found that we are in on the migration path of the Oriels.

My Mom saw a Chipping Sparrow. We saw this bird at the Grossmont Center. These birds like to stay with people. I think they are there to eat the food dropped by the people. I used The Cornell Lab Merlin App to identify this bird.

Go Pro Video 6

This is another video about birds that come to my feeder.
Lesser Goldfinches, House Finches, and House Sparrows really like the bird food.
Sometimes 1 or 2 of the House Finches will eat from the juice feeder.
My Mom put water out for the dehydrated birds. They seem to like taking showers in the water.

Lots of Lesser Gold Finches Visiting

This is Go Pro Video 5. We have had lots of birds come to this feeder. I think the rain helps the birds eat the seeds faster.

In the Spring time we had 38-40. Now, in the Fall I have observed 3-15 birds come to the feeders.

How many will come in the winter?

Go Pro Video 3

The birds that visited this feeder were Lesser Gold Finches, House Finches, and House Sparrows.
They were crazy and fearless. They left a big mess.

Birds of Paradise

I looked up the Birds of Paradise Project from Cornell Lab of Ornithology. The Birds of Paradise Project can be found here.

Birds of Paradise

I'm going to write a paper about Birds of Paradise. There are 41 species living in New Guinea, Australia and related islands. The males are known for their fancy feathers. The males use their fancy feathers to get the girls birds. The birds eat mostly fruits and arthropods. A number of species are threatened by hunting and habitat loss. They are cool birds.
